Evolve Cellars is a winery located in Summerland, BC that focuses on producing friendly and approachable wines with fruity tasting notes. They produce a variety of wine including many whites and a couple of reds and roses.
I was recently sent a bottle of their 2014 pinot blanc to sample. Pinot blanc grapes are a genetic mutation of pinot noir grapes and are known for having a full-bodied and forward fruit flavour.
I like my white wine crisp and flavourful with well-balanced sweetness and this pinot blanc hit all of my requirements. It had a fruity, fresh scent with a tropical melon taste that was neither too sweet nor too dry.
I paired it with a simple roasted chicken and root vegetables. I used fresh rosemary and thyme on the chicken and I thought the wine paired well with herbaceous flavours. It would also work well with seafood, salads, or a fruity dessert.
