Dinosaur Barbque

Dinosaur Barbque is a chain of barbecue restaurants in New York. Whenever I am in the States I am always on the look out for good barbeque restaurants. While in New York I visited the Harlem location with my family for dinner.

Breckenridge Agave Wheat

One of the things Dinosaur Barbque is known for is their extensive craft beer menu. They have 24 beers on tap and they also offer tasting flights to sample different kinds. I tried the Breckenridge Agave Wheat and really enjoyed it. It was a light easy drinking beer that had a subtle sweetness to it.

Fried Green Tomatoes

The fried green tomatoes are topped with pecorino romano cheese and served with a side of cayenne buttermilk ranch dressing.

The batter was nice and thin and crispy and the green tomato on the inside was juicy and thick. I’m not normally a big fan of ranch dressing, but I liked the addition of the cayenne to give it a bit of a kick and I think the creaminess went well with the tart tomatoes.

Jumbo BBQ Chicken Wings

The jumbo bbq chicken wings smoked and then grilled and tossed in your choice of barbecue sauce. We tried a few of the different sauces and liked them all. The wings were large, meaty, and juicy.

Brisket Plate

All of the barbeque plates come with cornbread and your choice of two sides.

The brisket was good and it was sliced pretty thick. The meat had a nice smokiness to it and it was covered in a slightly tangy sauce.

The candied yams were pretty tasty and they almost tasted more like a dessert than a meal side (which I was okay with). They were pretty sweet and had a lightly spiced flavour to them.

Bar-B-Que Pork Ribs

The bar-b-que pork ribs were very good. Normally I am pretty picky with the ribs that I like, but these had a good amount of meat on the bone and a delicious sauce. The meat was tender, but not quite falling off the bone tender, which I guess means they are done in true American barbecue style.

Big Ass Pork Plate

The last meat plate we tried was the big ass pork plate with a side of coleslaw and carrot salad. Both of these salads were good and offered something light and refreshing to contrast the excessive amount of meat.

I enjoyed trying all of the different barbeque dishes and all in all it was a satisfying meal. This is a good place to come for bigger groups of people because the dishes are large and meant for sharing.

Yes, for good barbecue dishes.
