Whole Foods is a chain of grocery stores that specializes in upscale and healthy food items. I love going grocery shopping at Whole Foods, but they are also a great place to go for a quick and healthy lunch. The counters and food items they serve and somewhat depends on the size and location of the store, but they always have tons of prepackaged options as well as counters where you can order sandwiches, coffee, etc.
My favourite thing at Whole Foods for a quick lunch is their salad bar. You can either build one to go or to eat there and you pay by the weight of your salad. Normally I am not a salad bar person, but Whole Foods does a more modern version of one.
Their choice of greens at the Kitsilano location I went to were spinach, mixed greens, and kale. How Kitsilano is that? I was really happy with the selection though, since these are things I would normally use to make a salad.
They have a bunch of great toppings available like quinoa, black beans, edamame, and pulled chicken breast. My favourite topping actually turned out to be the sesame crusted tofu because it was so flavourful. They also have several dressings to choose from ranging in a classic balsamic to tahini and sesame soy ginger.
I love the Whole Foods salad bar and I would highly recommend checking it out if you want a healthy meal. It is so quick and easy and you can completely customize it with whatever you feel like. I also thought it was very reasonably priced. Salads are typically ridiculously expensive, but all of mine have been around $7-$8 for a full meal sized portion, which I was perfectly happy about.
Yes, for a great quick salad.
