Bob Likes Thai Food

Bob Likes Thai Food is a modern Thai restaurant on West Broadway in the Fairview area (they also have a location on Main Street). I have visited the Fairview location a couple of times recently for a quick lunch. The inside of the restaurant is modern, but approachable and casual.

Pad Pik King Chicken

They have several lunch specials that are all priced at $9.  The pad pik king special is a stir fry made with chicken and green beans in a red curry sauce. I love the simple combo of green beans and chicken in a stir fry. The red curry sauce used in this dish is slightly different from your standard bowl of red curry because there is no coconut milk to make it creamy, so it has a slightly more spicy and tangy flavour.

Pad Thai

The pad thai lunch plate was very good and probably my favourite pad thai dish that I have eaten. I really liked the sauce that they used. The fish sauce taste was prominent and each bite was both tangy and sweet. There were also little pieces of tamarind mixed in the sauce, which was a nice little surprise because normally just tamarind sauce is used.

The portion of this dish was the perfect size for lunch. I left feeling full and satisfied. The only thing that could be improved is the shrimp, which were slightly over cooked.

Bob Likes Thai Food has impressed me both times I dined there. The food presentation is pretty and the lunch specials are flavourful and good value. It is definitely a little gem in the Fairview area.

Yes, for good quality and affordable lunch specials.

I’ve only been once to the Main St. location, but I do agree that it’s pretty tasty. My only dislike was that it was a tad pricey.
