Cafe Salade de Fruits

Cafe Salade de Fruits is a small French bistro located in the French Cultural Centre on West 7th Street. There is often a stereotype that French food is pretentious and expensive, but that isn’t the case at this restaurant. They serve approachable and casual menu items like daily salads, sandwiches, omelettes, quiche, and more. All of the servers here are also French and that makes me feel like they are more legit.

Crab and Spinach Quiche

I had their daily quiche special ($10), which happened to be crab and spinach. The quiche comes with your choice of fries or a mixed greens side salad.

This quiche was so good. It had a perfect light and fluffy texture and a rich eggy flavour. The combination of crab and spinach went well together. These two ingredients could potentially overwhelm the dish, but I didn’t find that was the case here and everything was well balanced.

I was impressed with Cafe Salade de Fruits and I would definitely return for lunch. The food was very good and the prices are affordable.

Recommendation:

Yes, for casual and affordable French food.

Love this place – give their duck confit a try if you go back for dinner someday.
