Krokodile Pear is a relatively new juice bar located in Kitsilano. They make healthy fresh pressed organic juices and smoothies. The inside of the store is very small and it doesn’t accommodate much seating, so you should plan to take your juice to go.
I ordered the Tofino ($7.50), which is a smoothie made with carrot, orange, ginger, and avocado. This smoothie was slightly sweet and fresh tasting. The ginger really made the smoothie pop and it dominated the other flavours. If you like ginger you will love this smoothie, but if you aren’t crazy about it, you should choose something else. It had a moderately thick texture
I went back on another occasion and I tried the deep cove smoothie ($8.50). This smoothie was made with greens, cucumber, celery, apple, lime, ginger, avocado, and spinach. I also added a mix of flax, hemp, and chia seeds (for an additional charge) to make it more filling.
This smoothie was so good. It tasted like liquified mother nature. I felt like the flavours were more well-balanced in this one than the other one I had and the ginger didn’t overwhelm everything else. It had the perfect balance of earthy flavours, while being slightly sweet and not bitter. I would highly recommend this smoothie.
I love fresh juices and smoothies, but they are so expensive that I have a hard time justifying buying them more than every once in a while for a treat. Krokodile Pear is worth checking out though for a healthy and tasty drink.
Yes, for good smoothies in Kitsilano.
