Top Pot Doughnuts is a chain of coffee and doughnut shops that has locations in Washington all around the Seattle area. Their doughnuts and the shop are nicer than your typical krispy kreme or Tim Horton’s style place. They hand make the doughnuts and the stores have an upscale, but vintage atmosphere.
My family was in Seattle for the day and we dropped by the Top Pot shop in Bellevue to pick up a dozen. It is a better deal if you get a dozen and you can never have too many doughnuts.
I had bites of several of these doughnuts. I’m not going to review them all individually, but I will give my general thoughts on them.
We had some cake, old fashioned, and yeast doughnuts. I am not a cake doughnut fan, so I may be a bit biased, but I did not enjoy their cake doughnuts at all. They were very dry and bland.
The old fashioned doughnuts were great. They were super moist, rich, and sweet. The raspberry glazed old fashioned was my favourite one that I tried.
The yeast doughnuts were solid. I am a sucker for just a good classic glazed yeast doughnut and these will satisfy that craving. They had a nice light airy texture and you could taste the freshness. They were like little fluffy pillows of sweet sugary goodness. One that I really liked was the raspberry bulls eye (glazed doughnut with a dollop of raspberry jam).
I enjoyed the doughnuts from Top Pot and if I lived in the area I would be back for more. They use classic American flavours and make well executed doughnuts.
Yes, for a good classic doughnut.
