The Brunch Box

The Brunch Box is a food cart located in Portland at a pod on SW 5th ave between Stark and Oak street. They serve massive burgers and breakfast sandwiches with a bunch of crazy toppings.

I first heard about Brunch Box from Eat Street. I told myself if I ever went to Portland I would get one of their burgers, so when I finally got to visit, I made sure to try it.

I ordered their famous “YouCanHasCheeseburger” (if you don’t get the name you obviously don’t like cats or internet humour). This is filled with a burger patty, American cheese, tomato, lettuce, grilled onions, mayo, ketchup, and mustard and then sandwiched between two texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches ($7).

This burger was as delicious as it sounds. Actually, I think it was more delicious than I was expecting it to be. This was the best burger I’ve ever eaten.

As you can imagine, this burger is super cheesy. When you bite into it you just get this burst of melty, gooey, creamy, American cheese.

The crisp texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches were an ideal bun. The bread was thick enough to hold up to all of the sauce and cheese without getting soggy. They were also perfectly crunchy, but not over cooked. All burgers should be made with grilled cheese sandwiches.

The meat patty was the perfect thickness and it was nice and juicy. The vegetables inside were your basic burger toppings, but I liked that. Burger toppings don’t need to be fancy.

I was expecting to have a good burger from Brunch Box, but I wasn’t expecting it to be the best burger of my life. Each bite was just more and more delicious. The ingredients were simple, but taken to the next indulgent level with the grilled cheese sandwiches. If you like a great burger and you are in Portland, you MUST go here.

Yes, for burger perfection.
