ChocolaTas is a local chocolate making company that focuses on using natural and high quality ingredients. They have a store in Granville Island and one in Abbotsford. They offered to send me a box of chocolates to try and how could I resist that?

Starting from the top left is the O Canada, which is a dark chocolate with lightly roasted hazelnut praline paste. This chocolate had a hard dark chocolate exterior with a creamy filling inside. This was my least favourite chocolate, due to the fact that I didn’t really taste the hazelnut. Not that this chocolate was bad, but I would have preferred a stronger hazelnut flavour and I wouldn’t pick this one out if I had the choice.

Going clockwise, the next one was the hot pepper and lime, which is a combination of caramel, hot pepper jelly, and a hint of lime. This sounds like a weird combination, but I loved it. The spicy, but sweet pepper jelly went surprisingly well with the rich creamy caramel. The hint of lime flavour brightened it all up and made this a delicious and unique chocolate.

On the bottom was a green tea and white chocolate combination. This chocolate had a strong, fragrant flavour of green tea, but it was offset by the indulgent sweet white chocolate. I also enjoyed this flavour combination and this is something I would see myself buying.

The last one was the valentino chocolate that was filled with a creamy smooth hazelnut praline filling. This chocolate had a strong nutty flavour and it is exactly what I expect of a hazelnut chocolate. This one was much better than the first one.

I enjoyed these chocolates, especially the green tea and the hot pepper and lime ones. They tasted great and ChocolaTas has plenty of interesting flavours to choose from in their catalogue. They even have a bunch of vegan chocolates available.

As a pre-Christmas treat Chocolatas is giving away a four piece tin of their chocolates to one of my readers. All you have to do to enter is tell them whether you like MILK or DARK chocolate! The winner will be announced on my blog on December 7th.  Here’s the link to enter Good luck!

Disclosure: I did not pay for the chocolates.

At first glance, I thought this was a box of sushi as it is so beautifully presented. Interesting combinations.
