Recipe to Riches: Triple “S” Korean Meatballs

On last week’s episode of Recipe to Riches it was the battle of hors d’oeuvres. The three finalists were curry crab sticks, quinoa cumin bites, and smoky Korean meatballs.

The winner was Jackie Koh’s Triple “S” Korean Meatballs. The triple s stands for spicy, sweet, and savoury. These meatballs come pre-cooked and you just heat them up in the oven.

The meatballs are made with a mixture of pork and beef. They didn’t get too dried out in the oven, but they could have been slightly juicer. I thought their flavour was great and you really do notice the three layers of sweet, spicy, and savoury flavours. You can pick up the initial taste of herbs and a slight sweetness and then a little bit of heat kicks in. These meatballs were good and I would eat them again, but I couldn’t help wishing that a tasty sauce came with them. The recipe to make these meatballs is on the Food Network Canada website.

    Thanks for your review of my meatballs turned PC. 50% of my meatball recipe is use of fresh ingredients and without any binders. I understand the need for PC to replace wet ingredients to dry powder but by doing so came the texture and moisture leve that is drastically different. It is unfortunate that a lot of reviews state the dryness and I am criticized for it.
