Tap & Barrel

Tap & Barrel is a new restaurant owned by the Daniel Group located in the Village on False Creek. They are a modern pub and their menu features plenty of beer and wine on tap (hence the name) and updated takes on classic pub food. The views from the restaurant are breath taking and they have a great two level patio.

I ordered the PB&J burger ($15) that comes on a potato bun with chipotle peanut butter and bacon jelly. The burger was also topped with a thinly sliced deep fried pickle that was crunchy and delicious. I’d eat a basket of them if they were on the menu.

The beef patty was thick, juicy, and meaty. I loved the combination of “PB&J”. The chipotle peanut butter had a slightly spicy, rich peanut taste that was very prominent. If you aren’t a fan of peanut butter, you probably won’t like this burger. The bacon jam was a bit more mild, but it had cut up pieces of bacon in it and a bit of tang.

The fries were thick cut and seasoned with fresh green herbs. These were pretty tasty and better than the average pub fries.

Overall Tap and Barrel serves above average pub food with interesting menu items. They have a great atmosphere and the lovely view makes this a good place to relax and have some drinks and good eats.

Yes, for great pub food.
