Menchie’s is a frozen yogurt chain that has recently expanded into Canada and now has a location on Cambie Street. The inside of the store is bright and playful, but they don’t have tons of seating.

The frozen yogurt is self-serve, so you pick your flavour, how much you want, and top it with whatever toppings you like. They had about 10 flavours of frozen yogurt to choose from and a large toppings bar that contained fruit, chocolate, sauces, cereal, and nuts. The amount you pay depends on the weight of the bowl.

I went with the pina colada sorbet and topped it with pineapple, two types of pearls, toffee bits, toasted coconut, and mochi. This came to just under $6.

The pina colada sorbet had a bright fruity flavour and was very refreshing. I loved the coconut and passionfruit pearls. They were pleasantly squishy and fun to pop in your mouth. The one thing I was disappointed in was the selection of fresh fruit. I like to top frozen yogurt with berries and I was sad they didn’t have any.

I enjoyed my creation and I liked how you can control what toppings you get and completely customize it. However, it can be difficult to predict the weight and end price of your bowl. I appreciated the large variety of frozen yogurt flavours and the non-dairy options. The only downside to Menchie’s is the lack of fresh fruit options that I mentioned above.

Yes, for fun frozen yogurt.
