Maxim’s

Maxim’s is a chain of Chinese bakeries that has six locations around Metro Vancouver. After discovering that there is a Maxim’s located in Coquitlam in Hendersen Place, I had to go in and check it out. After wandering the mall for a few minutes, I found Maxim’s on the North end of the ground floor.

The small store was packed with people and there was plenty of different buns and baked goods to choose from. The first bun I got was a pineapple pork bun. This bun had a crusty exterior but was soft inside. There was a slight sweetness in the dough that I really enjoyed. The pork mixture inside was tasty and complimented the sweet bun well and it made the bun hearty enough for a good snack. I thoroughly enjoyed this bun and I would get it again.

The second item I got was a coconut bun. This bun was pillowy and chewy and had a mild and sweet coconut flavour throughout the dough. There was no filling inside of this one but I enjoyed how light and airy it was.

Overall I was impressed by the baked goods from Maxim’s. Everything tasted fresh and they both had wonderful flavour and texture. The baked goods are also cheap and I got both of these items for a couple of dollars.

Recommendation:

Yes, for fresh and delicious baked goods.

Nope I haven’t tried the others yet but I want to go back for more. I was planning on getting an egg tart but the lady in front of me ordered them all 😦

Nice to see popular local businesses from the big city are expanding, and have expanded, out to the burbs like in the case of Maxim’s in the tri cities. Now we know…the egg tarts must be to die for!
