I’ve been to Moxie’s numerous times over the years and while it isn’t my favourite chain restaurant, they do have a handful of menu items that I enjoy.

Something that I always end up getting when I go for lunch is the lobster and brie grilled cheese ($14.99). I’m a sucker for lobster and for brie cheese, so this is a no brainer choice for me. The sandwich comes on perfectly crisp white bread and is loaded full of rich creamy filling. In addition to big gooey slabs of brie, there is also a bit of cheddar mixed in. The lobster was broken up into smaller pieces and it went well with the brie. This sandwich is delicious but very rich and heavy. I wouldn’t suggest ordering it if you are a light eater. The spring mix side salad that came with it was refreshing after eating so much heavy cheese. It had a tart dressing and a hint of sweetness from the dried cranberries.

I decided to order dessert and I got the mini sticky toffee pudding ($3.99). Moxie’s has a couple of smaller mini desserts, which I think is a smart idea because at time you just want to end your meal with something sweet. The sticky toffee pudding was moist, rich, and dense. The cake was smothered in a warm sweet toffee sauce and served with a side of vanilla ice cream. I enjoyed this dessert and it was the perfect amount to satisfy my sweet craving.

Overall I like the sandwiches at Moxie’s, but their dinner menu isn’t the best. They only serve sandwiches before 4:00 pm, which annoys me because Moxie’s isn’t the place I would come to if I wanted to eat a steak or rice bowl.

Yes, for good sandwiches at lunch time.
