Starbucks Cake Pops

Since Starbucks has a special 2 petites for $2 deal going on until April 22, I thought I would review their cake pops. On the first visit, I got a tiramisu and a raspberry truffle cake pop.

The tiramisu cake pop had a white cake filling and was topped with a little coffee bean. While the cake was very moist I found that this one didn’t have much flavour. The cake reminded me more of just a vanilla cake rather than tiramisu and I didn’t find that it had a strong coffee flavour. This cake pop was good but not outstanding.

The raspberry truffle cake pop was delicious. The chocolate cake inside was moist and dense and had a rich chocolate and raspberry flavour. It really did take like a raspberry truffle. The outside also looked like a truffle and it had a pretty design with chocolate swirls and decorative red sparkles. If you are a chocolate lover you will definitely enjoy this.

On another visit I tried the birthday cake pop. The cake inside was a rich white vanilla cake and it was surrounded by a super sweet pretty pink coating. This cake pop tastes exactly like those circus animal cookies they sell in the States. This is the most kid friendly of all the petites and not for someone who doesn’t have a major sweet tooth.

Overall I enjoyed the cake pops and the cake inside all of them was pleasantly moist. They are also adorable looking and make for a cute small treat.

Yes, try the raspberry truffle cake pop.

These babies are hard to come by. Apparently, there has been a high demand on these due to their promotion and some stores, like the one we checked in Champlain Heights, only got 8 items for the day!

This may be a total exercise in frustration if Starbucks can’t keep up with the demand they created. Even less motivation to go to Starbucks for me.
