Soho Road Naan Kebab

Soho Road Naan Kebab is a food truck located on Howe and Smithe that serves up a couple of different Indian style naan wraps. I have been wanting to try them for months because I kept hearing great things and I finally got the opportunity to try them at Street Food City last week. They actually have a real tandoor oven in their trailer and they bake all of their chicken and naan fresh in the tandoor.

Chai

Street Food City was crazy busy and I ended up waiting in line for almost 30 minutes but on a normal day I don’t think it will take this long. The owner gave everyone in line some free chai while we waited. I am pretty picky with chai but I enjoyed the one he gave us. It was creamy and fragrant but the spices weren’t too overwhelming and the clove flavour wasn’t strong (which I liked).

Tandoori Chicken Wrap

I was having a hard time deciding between the butter chicken naan wrap and the tandoori chicken naan wrap but I finally decided upon the tandoori chicken ($7). The wrap is a fair size and is actually loaded up with tons of chicken inside. The chicken was very moist and tender and much better than a lot of tandoori chicken I’ve had in the past which tends to dry out in the tandoor. The naan bread was perfect. It was warm, fresh, and chewy with some slightly crispy bits and it turned out to be quite filling. They put some cucumber and onions inside the wrap which gave it a nice crunch. I also saw them drizzle some sauce on the chicken before wrapping it up. I’m not sure what it was but it definitely tasted good.

I was impressed with Soho Road and the fact that they make fresh naan in a tandoor in their truck. They are definitely worth a visit and I can’t wait to come back and try the butter chicken wrap.

Recommendation:

Yes for delicious and flavourful Indian street food.
