Faubourg is a Parisian style bakery and cafe located in Kerrisdale. I’m a sucker for french pastries and desserts, so when I had the opportunity to go here with Foodology I was excited. The inside of Faubourg is bright, modern, and welcoming and they have big glass cases full of delicious looking desserts and fresh baked breads. I always get a bit overwhelmed in pastry shops because everything is so visually appealing.

I asked a girl working there (she even had a french accent) which dessert she recommended and she told me her personal favourite was this one called an Operette. I went with her recommendation and got the last one in the case. The Operette ($4.50) dessert was made with layers of a spongey almond cake and dark chocolate ganache and was topped with a light orange mousse. I’m really glad I listened to her recommendation because this was delicious! All of the layers were light and the sweet orange mousse was offset by the rich dark chocolate ganache. The almond cake was moist and had a more unique flavor and consistency than normal cake.

Marco Polo Latte

To go with my cake I ordered a marco polo tea latte. The marco polo tea is a fruity and floral black tea. Normally I drink green tea but the description of this tea captured my attention. It was sweet and the fruit flavor was mild and didn’t taste artificial like some fruit teas do. The steamed milk made it creamy and frothy and it was one of the best tea drinks I’ve ever had. If you like tea and fruity flavors I would highly recommend this drink

Plain Croissant

Since I don’t live anywhere close to Kerrisdale and I knew I wouldn’t be back in the area for a while I got a plain croissant to take home and try later. I ate this the next morning for breakfast and it still tasted yummy. It was flaky and buttery and it heated up well in the oven. They had lots of other flavors of croissants and pastries and if I went back I would try some more.

Overall I was impressed with Faubourg and everything I tried was very good. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere and it is a perfect place to sit and enjoy a dessert with a friend.

Yes for great tea and desserts in Kerrisdale
