Club Ilia Quick Service

At SFU there is a restaurant called Club Ilia and on the side of their entrance they recently opened up a little quick service counter. I just found out about this so I was curious to know what it was like. They are only open Mon-Fri from 11-3pm for the lunch rush. When I went inside I was a bit overwhelmed because they had a pretty big selection of things to choose from. For $7 you can pick any three items that they are offering that day. They have a wide variety of stuff including chicken dishes, fresh pasta where you can choose your sauce, and sides like mashed potatoes and salads. Everything they make in the restaurant is fresh and made from scratch.

The three items I chose were chicken parmesan, rice, and mashed potatoes and gravy. These items are kind of a strange combination but I was craving some mashed potatoes. The chicken parmesan was delicious. The chicken was moist and tender and the sauce on top tasted fresh and was seasoned nicely. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. There were little bits of potato skin mixed in which gave it an earthier potato taste. I liked this because I find a lot of mashed potatoes lose the flavor of the potato. The gravy had a nice flavor without being too heavy. The rice was fine but it was nothing special.

Overall I really liked this place. It was nice to be able to eat something that resembled a real meal and not fast food garbage like many of the other food options at SFU. The food here is way better than the cafeteria food and for $7 it is affordable, filling, AND it tastes good.

Recommendation:

Yes, for a fresh and filling lunch at SFU.

I like this place too ~ and I am a Veggie Lover and in my opinion, many places don’t give veggies enough room on the menu.

Yeah I was surprised by the amount of different options they had for sides. It was nice to have some variety.
