New Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy Wendy’s Burgers

The fast food chain Wendy’s is advertising their new “Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy” cheeseburgers. The burgers are the same type of burgers that they previously had but they have undergone a couple changes. Firstly the claim the burger patties are now thicker and juicier than before. They now also toast and butter their buns and they have changed their toppings to crinkle cut sweet pickles, red onions and hand cut tomatoes.

I decided to test out their revamped burgers with a Bacon Deluxe Single which is the burger that I typically order when I go to Wendy’s. The first thing I noticed was the new bun. I like how they toast it now because their buns used to get too soggy because they were so soft. The burger patty did seem a bit thicker and juicier. It wasn’t a huge difference but I did notice that it tasted better. The red onion and sweet pickles added a different flavor to the burger which I enjoyed. I took the tomato off because I don’t like tomatoes on my burgers but I didn’t notice anything different about it than the tomatoes they used to use. The burgers now also come standing up in a cute little box which is a good idea if you are eating on the go.

Wendy’s also changed their fries several months ago and I like the new ones. The old ones used to get really soggy but these ones stay more crispy, have more of a  potato flavor, and are topped with sea salt.

Overall I would say that Wendy’s has improved their food quite a bit over the last little while. The food tastes fresher and less soggy and I like the new ingredients they use. At the end of the day it’s still a fast food burger but it sure beats McDonald’s for taste.

Yes, if you are looking for a fast food burger meal.

A couple of years ago, when Wendys changed the ‘Big Bacon Classic’ to the “Bacon Deluxe’, all they did was add better bacon, and they made my already favorite burger even better. Unfortunately a few months ago, someone thought that it was time to reboot the 50-odd year old recipe and change it so much that I don’t even consider it the same burger anymore. They now add butter (completely unnecessary), They changed to red onions (not a big difference there), no more mustard (maybe you can still ask for it), but the one thing that I can not forgive them for, was the switch to using sweet pickles…. Who on earth thought that was a good idea??? The dill pickle was a KEY flavor component of the Bacon Deluxe!!! I found it so offensive, that I completely stopped going to Wendys… I always thought one of the criteria of being a ‘franchise’ was to maintain consistency? You think McDonalds would ever switch to using sweet pickles on the Big Mac? Hell no! That would ensue global chaos!!

    R.I.P. Bacon Deluxe…
