McDonald’s Oatmeal

Over the past several months there’s been a new trend at fast food restaurants to have oatmeal on their breakfast menu. I love having oatmeal for breakfast and I like to be able to have the option of ordering it for a nice morning snack at more places. McDonald’s recently added oatmeal to their breakfast menu and I wanted to see how it compared to Tim Horton’s oatmeal which I really like.

McDonald’s just has one flavor of oatmeal ($3) that comes with a mixed fruit topping and they give you a little cup of brown sugar on the side. The fruit topping consists of apples, golden and regular raisins and dried cranberries. I liked the raisins and cranberries but I wasn’t crazy about the apples, I thought they were a bit too bitter and I didn’t like their consistency mixed in with the oatmeal. The portion size was decent and comparable to other fast food oatmeal.

It wasn’t the best oatmeal I’ve had but it wasn’t bad. I would order it again if I wanted breakfast and wasn’t in the mood for a greasy breakfast sandwich.

Recommendation:

Yes, if you want a non-greasy fast food breakfast.

Well, there might be a reason: McD’s oatmeal is basically Quaker’s quick oatmeal, where they unpack it for you, put boiling water and put some sides of fruits and what not. For comparison purposes, you might want to try Timmy’s.

I tried the Tim Horton’s oatmeal a while ago and I definitely preferred it over McDonald’s. I also like at Tim’s how there are two different toppings to choose from.
