Bada Bing

After reading some mixed reviews I was a little hesitant to try the Bada Bing food cart. They specialize in philly cheesesteak sandwiches. I’ve never had a good philly cheesesteak sandwich so I wanted to give them a chance to see what their sandwiches tasted like. I got there at around 12 and it was quite busy. They are located on Burrard so at lunch time there’s a pretty big crowd around there. I decided to try the chicken cheesesteak sandwich ($5.99) at the last minute. The sandwich comes on an Italian style bun with your choice of meat, melted cheese and sautéed mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. I didn’t know how big the sandwiches were going to be and I was scared that I wouldn’t be full from one so I also ordered a side of poutine ($3.99).

The sandwich turned out to be quite large. They have a bunch of different sauces on a little table that you can put on yourself. I put on some garlic mayo and a little honey mustard. The sandwich had a really good flavor. The chicken was plentiful and there were nice sized chunks in the sandwich covered in yummy melted cheese. The sautéed veggies were really good. The green pepper wasn’t too overpowering but it still gave it a nice flavor, and I love sautéed mushrooms and onions on anything so I really enjoyed the sandwich.

The poutine was huge. I ordered way too much food, but the poutine was really good. The fries were hot and fresh and covered in melted cheese and gravy. For $3.99 the poutine is a really good deal, it could be a meal unto itself. It wasn’t the best poutine I have had but I enjoyed it and for the price you can’t go wrong. It’s way better than food court poutine. I also put a bit of the garlic mayo on top which gave it a nice creamy garlic flavor.

Overall I was satisfied with my meal. The portions are really big and the prices are right. The food is nothing crazy, its simple but good.

Recommendation:

Yes if you like a hearty sandwich or poutine
