Absolute Bagels is a popular bagel shop located in New York City. While I was on vacation I tried to take advantage of the fact that I was in New York and I ate as many bagels as possible.
Absolute Bagels has a lot of different flavours of bagels and cream cheese to choose from. They also have tofu cream cheese so if you are vegan or lactose intolerant you can still enjoy a bagel.
I tried a sesame bagel with tofu chive cream cheese and lox. The tofu cream cheese was pretty good and it had a smooth texture. Sometimes tofu cream cheese can be very rubbery but this still had a pretty light whipped texture.
I liked the addition of lox to the bagel and it made for a much more hearty breakfast. It was pretty messy to eat though, so don’t get lox if you are eating on the run. I have had better lox before, but I’m spoiled with fresh delicious west coast salmon back in Vancouver.
My bagel from Absolute Bagels was good, but the prices here are higher than a lot of other bagel shops and I didn’t notice that they tasted any different from the other good bagels I had. I did like that they had a tofu cream cheese option and lots of selection to choose from.
Yes, for a good bagel.
