Blue Fox Cafe

The Blue Fox Cafe is a popular all day breakfast spot in Victoria. They have an extensive menu of breakfast classics and more creative options. They also have sandwiches and other lunch options available.

I came here with my friend Katherine when I went to Victoria. This place is so busy. We went in the middle of the day in the middle of the week and we still had to wait in line for 20 minutes before we got a seat.

Almond Milk Cappuccino

I had an almond milk cappuccino. I was happy to see a dairy free alternative milk because most restaurants don’t offer that. They also didn’t charge me extra for it so that made me even happier.

Moroccan Chicken Benny

I had the Moroccan chicken benny ($13.50), which was made with Moroccan spiced chicken breast, sautéed button mushrooms and onions, sweet apple chutney, and Moroccan spiced hollandaise. The size of this dish was massive. It was one of the biggest eggs benny dishes that I have ever seen.

This was my first time having chicken in an eggs benny dish and I was blown away by it. The chicken was very moist and tender and there was tons of it under the eggs. This picture doesn’t do it justice.

The eggs were poached to perfection. The eggs were fluffy and light and the yolks were deliciously runny.

The hollandaise was also excellent. It had a very thick and creamy texture and the extra hint of flavour from the Moroccan spices was wonderful. The sweet apple chutney was a nice addition to the dish and it gave a hint of sweet, fruity, flavour.

This was my favourite eggs benny dish that I have ever had. I loved how unique it was and it was so filling. The only thing I wasn’t super crazy about were the potatoes. They were alright, but they seemed too much like dinner potatoes to me. I would have liked them cut up smaller and fried a bit more crispy.

Veggie Omelette

Katherine had the veggie omelette ($11.50) that was made with a mixture of  spinach, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, herbs, spices, cheddar, jack and feta. She enjoyed the omelette and it was well prepared and flavourful.

Even though I hate waiting in line for food, the Blue Fox is a place I would wait for again. Their all day breakfast is amazing and I would highly recommend their eggs benny. The atmosphere is comfortable, the food is reasonably priced and the portions are massive. If this place was in Vancouver, I would be a regular.

Recommendation:

Yes, for an amazing all day breakfast in Victoria.
