Salt and Straw

Salt and Straw is a premium ice cream shop located in Portland. They have all the classic ice cream flavours, but they are best known for their innovative flavour combinations.

My family made a last stop here on our way home from Portland. The inside of the shop is very cute, bright, and inviting.

Passionfruit Berliner Weisse in Coconut Water Sorbet

I’m always happy when I see a dairy free sorbet on the menu. The one they had when I visited was the passionfruit Berliner Weisse in coconut water sorbet. This was part of their special line of ice creams that utilized local beer.

I got my cone in a cup for portability purposes. The guy working there called it a “wizard hat”, which made me laugh because I’m a nerd.

The coconut milk made this sorbet very refreshing and not overly sweet. There was a ripple of the passionfruit berliner weisse throughout the sorbet that added a hint of sweetness.

Salt and Straw was a cute store and their ice cream was great. Anyone could find a flavour they liked here and they have flavours that you can’t find anywhere else. It is definitely worth stopping by for a cold treat if you are in Portland.

Recommendation:

Yes, for a cute ice cream shop with creative flavours.
