Rocket Donuts is a donut shop and cafe located in the historic downtown area of Bellingham. They have a funky retro sci-fi theme going on inside the store. They make all the classic flavours plus some more unique types of donuts.
I’ve seen other people blog about this place and I’ve been wanting to go for a while, so when I was in Bellingham recently, my mom and I stopped by to pick up a few donuts.
Since I’m technically not supposed to eat dairy products, I was happy to see a vegan chocolate dipped donut ($1.39). This one was topped with shredded coconut and almonds.
While it was smaller than the other donuts, it tasted really good. I wouldn’t have even guessed that it was vegan if I didn’t know. The cake donut was dense, moist, and slightly chewy. I liked the combination of chocolate, coconut, and almonds because it was slightly sweet and it added a crunchy texture.
The donut that Rocket Donuts is most famous for is their bacon maple bar ($2.29). There was about two and a half strips of bacon smothering the donut. We brought this home for my other family members to try and they enjoyed it.
The apple fritter ($1.99) was a monstrous size. This could easily feed two people.
The raised glazed ($0.89) was also very large. It was about double the size of a Tim Hortons one and for the same price.
My family and I all enjoyed the donuts from Rocket Donuts. They were all fresh and affordable, especially for the size of them. I also appreciated how they had donuts that cater to dietary restrictions, which would make me return in the future.
Yes, for good donuts.
