Thierry is one of my favourite places in Vancouver to get something sweet. Thierry is located on Alberni street and they are open until midnight daily, so its a good spot to stop by in the evening for dessert.
My parents bought me a box of macarons for Christmas. The only three flavours that they had available were gingerbread, chocolate caramel, and coffee, so my box was made up of those flavours.
I love all things gingerbread, so I enjoyed this seasonal macaron. The gingerbread spices were in the cookie part, but they were actually quite mild. The centre was filled with an orange flavoured buttercream. The filling had a strong, tart, citrus flavour and I thought it was a good match with the gingerbread.
I’ve had the chocolate caramel macaron before and I quite like it. The cookie had a light, sweet, caramel flavour. This macaron was filled with a rich chocolate ganache inside. If you don’t like overly sweet macarons this would be a good option because the ganache filling isn’t as sweet as the buttercream ones.
The coffee flavour macaron is one of my favourites. It tastes just like you are eating a delicious piece of tiramisu. The coffee flavour is strong, but sweet and sugary.
I’ve always had good experiences at Thierry and I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from there. I will continue to go there when I have a dessert craving.
Recommendation:
Yes, for good desserts.
