Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is a chain restaurant that is inspired by the movie Forrest Gump and they specialize in shrimp. They have an overwhelming amount of shrimp dishes, but there are a few other non shrimp dishes for people who may not want it.
My favourite thing to get here is the shrimper’s net catch ($24). I went for the 1 + 1/3 pounds but you can also get 2/3 of a pound. They have Cajun spice and garlic spice and I got half and half.
They steam the shrimp in beer and then toss them in the sauces. The shrimp were all plump and cooked perfectly. The 1 + 1/3 pounds works out to about 40 shrimp, so it is definitely enough to fill you up.
The Cajun spice had some heat to it, but it wasn’t too much to handle. The garlic sauce was nice and it complimented the sweet shrimp meat well. Both of the sauces were good and I would recommend getting both because when they mix together and you get the best of both worlds.
I know a lot of food hipsters hate on big American chain restaurants, but there is a special place in my heart for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. All of the shrimp dishes I’ve had here I’ve been satisfied with and the restaurant provides a fun and unique dining experience.
Yes, if you like shrimp and a fun atmosphere.
