Salsa and Agave is a Mexican restaurant on Pacific Boulevard in Yaletown. They have a variety of traditional Mexican items like tacos, tortas, burritos, and some larger entrée style dishes. This little restaurant is always packed full of people and it is a popular destination with people working in the area.
On my lunch break I decided to stop by and get some food to go. I went with the shredded pork torta ($6) because I’ve always wanted to try one. A torta is a Mexican style sub sandwich.
The torta came filled with a pile of flavourful shredded pork that was oozing with spicy juices. It was also filled with tomatoes, avocados, lettuce, onions, beans, mayo, and they gave me a small bowl of jalapeños on the side. I love refried beans and I liked how they put them on the sandwich as it made it more filling. The bun was crunchy and slightly warm and held up to the dripping juices from the pork.
The pork torta is a solid sandwich and I was left feeling full and satisfied. For $6 you can’t go wrong. I think this is a great option in Yaletown if you are looking for an affordable lunch since most restaurants in the area tend to be pricy.
Recommendation:
Yes, for a cheap Mexican lunch.
