The Powell Street Festival is celebrating their 36th annual celebration of Japanese Canadian culture today and tomorrow. The festival is from 11:30am-7pm in the Oppenheimer Park and surrounding locations of the 400 block of Powell street.
There will be a food area set up that has different vendor stalls of various types of Japanese cuisine. Many of the vendors are small local organizations, but there are also a few well known Vancouver restaurants there like Hapa Izakaya and Bonchaz Bakery.
In addition to food, there will be live music/performances, cultural displays, and merchandise vendors. You can check out the complete Powell Street Festival program here.

I was just there today. Great eats!!!
Delicious grilled ribs from Hapa Izakaya and the japanese green tea shave ice really helped to cool off from the blistering heat.
Also loved the skip rope team from Japan.
Green tea shave ice sounds amazing on a day like today
