Les Faux Bourgeois is a nice but casual French bistro tucked away on E 15 Ave in Vancouver. They are one of the most popular restaurants in Vancouver because of their delicious French food, non-pretentious atmosphere, and affordable prices. The restaurant itself is cozy but you are jammed in quite close to the other tables in the room.
To begin our meal we were brought complementary bread and butter. The French bread was crusty on the outside and soft and chewy inside. This dish was so simple, but this was a good way to start the meal.
For my dinner, I ordered the steak frites with red wine shallot jus ($18). I asked for my hanger steak cooked medium and it came out a perfect beautiful deep pink colour. The red wine shallot jus went well with the steak. It had a rich wine flavour with a touch of sweetness and it was so good I soaked it up with my fries.
The portion of fries was substantial and they had a rustic feel to them with bits of the skin still on. The fries came with a lemon mayo dip that was creamy, fresh tasting, and addictive.
I was impressed with my meal at Les Faux Bourgeois and I now see why it is so popular. The restaurant has a homey feel to it and the food is mouth watering. Almost all of the entrees are $20 or under, which is a great price for a nice dinner.
Recommendation:
Yes, for casual and tasty French food.
