After our dinner at Au Petit Cafe, Food Punk, Foodology, and myself went to Flo Tea Room for some dessert and bubble tea. I was surprised that Flo Tea Room was a full service restaurant because I was expecting more of a cafe atmosphere. They have everything from appetizers/snacks, to Asian and Western entrees, and lots of special bubble tea drinks.
I ordered one of the special slush drinks called fire on ice with pearls ($5). This drink was layered with lychee, peach, mango, and strawberry slush. The pearls were delightfully chewy and I thought all of the fruity flavours went well together. The drink was sweet but refreshing.
For dessert we ordered a honey toast box ($8) to share. I always see people tweet pictures of toast boxes and they have intrigued me for a while. Unfortunately, this dessert looked much more interesting than it actually was. The inside was filled with strips of dry toasted white bread with a tiny bit of sweet sauce inside. I don’t know why, but I wasn’t literally expecting a box full of toast when I ordered it. Essentially this is just toasted bread with ice cream, Oreos, and chocolate sauce on it. We were all disappointed with it and this isn’t an item I would order again.
Despite the toast box failure, I would return to Flo Tea Room. They had a great selection of bubble tea drinks and they have a huge food menu I wouldn’t mind trying.
Recommendation:
Yes, for special bubble tea drinks.
