One of my favourite cheap burgers around is from Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I don’t get to go too often because their locations in West Vancouver and South Surrey are a bit inconvenient to get to.
At all Five Guys restaurants have large bags of bulk peanuts sitting around in the store and you can take a free bowl of them. They use peanut oil to fry their fries, so the bags of peanuts have become a tradition for them. I don’t really enjoy eating peanuts with my burgers, but my family members always grab a bowl of them.
We ordered a side of Cajun fries and a side of regular fries. The portions are massive and they always throw some extra fries on top of your bag, so just get a small size and it will be plenty. The Cajun ones are dusted with a spicy powder but I prefer the regular ones.
For my burger I ordered the little bacon cheeseburger. The regular burgers have two beef patties and the little burgers have one. The beef patty is thick and juicy and is smothered in melted cheddar cheese. I loaded my burger up with all the usual toppings and grilled onions and mushrooms. One of my favourite things about Five Guys is that you can add grilled onions and grilled mushrooms to your burger for free. This was one messy burger but it was totally delicious.
Overall, I was happy with my bacon cheeseburger and it satisfied my burger craving. For around the same price as a McDonald’s Big Mac combo, you can eat a freshly grilled burger with tons of toppings. Comparatively, Five Guys has way more flavour and is much cheaper than FatBurger. If I lived closer I would be a regular.
Recommendation:
Yes, for a good affordable burger.

We live in South Surrey, and go to that location often. Love their burgers!
I’m jealous! I wish I lived closer.
There’s another opening at Fremont Village in Port Coquitlam sometime this summer as well.
