Hapa Grill is a Hawaiian diner located in the town of Kapolei. The inside is plain and a bit worn out and it has a family friendly dive atmosphere. They serve breakfast until 2pm every day and for lunch they have burgers, teriyaki dishes, and some local Hawaiian favourites.
I ordered the fried rice omelette ($9) because I was feeling breakfast. Fried rice omelettes are popular on the island and I wanted to try one while I was there. The dish came with a heaping pile of fried rice that’s topped with a thin omelette. Kimchi and pork adobo came on the side of the omelette. The pork adobo was deliciously tender and it was the perfect flavourful compliment to the fried rice. The kimchi added a bit of a spicy crunch to the dish and I didn’t find it too strong like some other versions I’ve had. The fried rice itself was seasoned nicely and full of green onions and a couple of types of meat. The egg omelette was light and fluffy and there was just the right amount to go with all the rice.
Overall I was satisfied with my meal at Hapa Grill. I liked how they served breakfast so late and their prices are really affordable. The restaurant is nothing fancy and I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you are looking for ambiance, but you will leave full of good food.
Recommendation:
Yes, for an affordable and tasty breakfast meal.
