While we were visiting the North Shore, we needed some lunch. We originally planned to go to Opal Thai because I saw it on the Food Network, but when we got there we found out that it’s closed Tuesday. I was super disappointed and we were left wondering where to go. We ended up going to Kua Aina which is a burger and sandwich place just down the road.
The inside is casual and you place your order at the counter and then they make up your burgers fresh. I wanted to order the mahi mahi sandwich but they didn’t have any mahi mahi that day. My day was not going well food wise and I ended up ordering the pineapple burger. The burger itself was decent but not spectacular. I got the 1/3 pound patty and it was pretty thick and juicy. The pineapple on the burger was tasty but I felt like the burger needed a good sauce on it. I also wish that it came with cheese.
The burgers cost about $9 and they don’t come with fries. We ordered a large side of fries and shared them. The fries were super skinny, crispy, and hot. I liked them and thought they were the best part of the meal.
Overall the burgers here are decent. They tasted fresh but they were a bit pricy and they aren’t that exciting.
Recommendation:
Yes, but only if you are in the area and looking for a quick lunch because it’s not worth a special trip.

North Shore is a great place – burger looks awesome. I found a video by The Piano Guys with a great mashup that was filmed on the North Shore ~ makes me want to go back. It’s posted at http://www.mainlandkamaainas.com.
Now off to lunch~
